CULTURE OF DIVERSITY
in partnership with PRONI Centre for Youth Development (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and, Youth Power (Cyprus), and supported by the Anna Lindh Foundation
Cultural Diversity is the quality of diverse or different cultures, as opposed to monoculture; it can also refer to having different cultures respecting each other's differences.
According to the Article 1 of the UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity: “Culture takes diverse forms across time and space. This diversity is embodied in the uniqueness and plurality of the identities of the groups and societies making up humankind. As a source of exchange, innovation and creativity, cultural diversity is as necessary for humankind as biodiversity is for nature. In this sense, it is the common heritage of humanity and should be recognized and affirmed for the benefit of present and future generations.”
Alexandria, the once been cosmopolitan city…Maybe not anymore like so, yet surely there are some manifestations of Cultural Diversity; simply because there is you, me, her, him, we, them…us. Whoever you are, there is a place specifically for you. There’s a culture represented in YOU.
